There are a lot of things that are called “testimony” that are not the TRUE testimony of Yahushua Messiah (Jesus Christ). When many people hear the word “testimony” they think of someone standing in front of the congregation and talking about the things that Elohim (God) has done for them. In this study I want to document what TRUE testimony is. The word “testimony”, in the English corresponds with three different Greek words.

Strong’s Reference # 3140   matureo

                                # 3141   marturia

                                # 3142   marturion

These three words all come from Strong’s Reference # 3144 martus - which means to be a witness in a judicial sense.

These three words are also translated RECORD, and WITNESS in the King James Version.

We’ll go to the book of 1 Corinthians to begin our study.

1 Corinthians 2:1,2

2:1

And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of Elohim (God).

2:2

For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Yahushua Messiah (Jesus Christ), and him crucified.

True testimony begins and ends with The Master Yahushua Messiah (The Lord Jesus Christ) not ourselves. It’s all about the sacrifice that He gave so that we may inherit eternal life.

1 Corinthians 1:4-9

1:4

I thank my Elohim (God0 always on your behalf, for the grace of Elihim (God) which is given you by Yahushua Messiah (Jesus Christ);

1:5

That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;

1:6

Even as the testimony of Messiah (Christ) was confirmed in you:

1:7

So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Master Yahushua Messiah (Lord Jesus Christ):

1:8

Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Master Yahushua Messiah (Lord Jesus Christ).

1:9

Elohim (God) is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Yahushua Messiah our Master (Jesus Christ our Lord).

The testimony of Yahushua (Jesus) that we hold is the reason why we are made blameless in the day of YHWH (The LORD). The day of YHWH (the LORD) is the time when the wrath of El Shaddai (Almighty God) spills forth.  See study titled “Day of YHWH”.  Now we’ll move on to the book of 2 Timonthy.

2 Timothy 1:6-9

1:6

Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of Elohim (God), which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

1:7

For Elohim (God) hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

1:8

Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Master (Lord), nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of Elohim (God);

1:9

Who hath saved us, and called us with an apart holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Messiah Yahushua (Christ Jesus) before the world began,

These scriptures deal a crushing blow to most modern methods of evangelism that attempt to gain the approval of the “world” by leaving Messiah (Christ) out. It’s our FATHER who does the calling according to His purpose not ours. So no matter how many slick new ideas we come up with to supposedly win souls, no matter how many people come forward for an alter call, they are not TRULY saved unless they have the TRUE testimony of Yahushua Messiah (Jesus Christ).

In 1 John 5:1-13, the words RECORD and

          WITNESS corespond with the word

         TESTIMONY

1 John 5:1-13

5:1

Whosoever believeth that Yahushua (Jesus) is the Messiah (Christ) is born of Elohim (God): and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

5:2

By this we know that we love the children of Elohim (God), when we love Elohim (God), and keep his commandments.

5:3

For this is the love of Elohim (God), that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

5:4

For whatsoever is born of Elohim (God) overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

5:5

Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Yahushua (Jesus) is the Son of Elohim (God)?

5:6

This is he that came by water and blood, even Yahushua Messiah (Jesus Christ); not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

5:7

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit): and these three are one.

5:8

And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

5:9

If we receive the witness of men, the witness of Elohim (God) is greater: for this is the witness of Elohim (God) which he hath testified of his Son.

5:10

He that believeth on the Son of Elohim (God) hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not Elohim (God) hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that Elohim (God) gave of his Son.

5:11

And this is the record,  that Elohim (God) hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

5:12

He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of Elohim (God) hath not life.

5:13

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of Elohim (God); that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of Elohim (God).

We can see that the true record  or testimony is,

"Elohim (God) has given us eternal life, and this life is in his son." This should be what we testify about. Now we'll go to St. John chapter five and read the words of Messiah (Christ) Himself.

John 5:26-44

5:26

For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

5:27

And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

5:28

Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

5:29

And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

5:30

I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

5:31

If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.

5:32

There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.

5:33

Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.

5:34

But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved.

5:35

He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.

5:36

But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

5:37

And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

5:38

And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.

5:39

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

5:40

And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

5:41

I receive not honour from men.

5:42

But I know you, that ye have not the love of Elohim (God) in you.

5:43

I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

5:44

How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from Elohim (God) only?

In the man centered "Christianity" of today it seems that so-called pastors and evangelists seek the honor and approval of one another and the world, but YHWH (The LORD). They measure the success of a ministry not on whether the TRUTH is being taught or not, but according to how many “members” a church has, or how big the building is, or how many people come forward at the un-biblical alter calls. Why would so-called pastors seek approval from men and not from YHWH (The LORD)? Because they do not hold the TRUE testimony of Yahushua Messiah (Jesus Christ). Now we are going to jump to the book of Revelation.

Revelation 19:6-10

19:6

And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for YHWH El Shaddai (the Lord God omnipotent) reigneth.

19:7

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

19:8

And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

19:9

And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of Elohim (God).

The “he” mentioned here in verse 9 is an angel.

19:10

And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Yahushua (Jesus): worship Elohim (God): for the testimony of Yahushua (Jesus) is the spirit of prophecy.

All TRUE prophecy testifies of Yahushua (Jesus). The prophets of the Old Covenant (Testament) spoke the words that YHWH (The LORD) gave them. There are many fakes in these last days that claim to be prophets but what they say doesn’t line up with The Word of Elohim (God). If YHWH (The LORD) sends a person, what that person says must be in line with His Word.

Revelation 1:1-6

1:1

The Revelation of Yahushua Messiah (Jesus Christ), which Elohim (God) gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

1:2

Who bare record of the word of Elohim (God), and of the testimony of Yahushua Messiah (Jesus Christ), and of all things that he saw.

1:3

Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

1:4

John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

1:5

And from Yahushua Messiah (Jesus Christ), who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

1:6

And hath made us kings and priests unto Elohim (God) and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Revelation 12:9-11

12:9

And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

12:10

And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our Elohim (God), and the power of his Messish (Christ): for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our Elohim (God) day and night.

12:11

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Knowing the True testimony of Yahushua Messiah (Jesus Christ) is of the utmost importance. It is by this testimony that we overcome the anti-messiah (christ), that old serpent called the devil and satin. After this study I pray that the next time they have “testimony” at your church you realize that the TRUE testimony of Yahushua Messiah (Jesus Christ) is not about what He can do for us in this life, but it is about what He did for us before we were even born in flesh.
