The Day of YHWH (the Lord) is mentioned many times in our Father's word. Our Elohim (God) is an Elohim (God) of love, but He is also an Elohim (God) of discipline. The day is soon coming when this current period of grace will end and the period of judgment will begin. Our Master (Lord) is coming back to set things straight. Well let us get some scriptures.

We will begin this study in the book of Isaiah.

Isaiah 2:5-11

verse 5     O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of YHWH (the LORD).

verse 6     Therefore Thou hast forsaken Thy people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.

This verse refers to mediums. Today we call them psychics. YHWH (the LORD) does not like His children playing with evil spirits. This verse also refers to the heathenistic practices of some churches. Everything that is spiritual or supernatural is not of our Father. We are warned many times by Messiah (Christ) Himself that false prophets would come showing great signs and wonders and deceive many people. Be sure that you are not one of them. How do we do that? By sticking with our Father's Word.

verse 7    Their land is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land also is full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots:

verse 8    Their land also is full of idols: they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made.

An idol isn’t just a statue that is worshiped. An idol is anything that we place before Elohim (God). It can be money, our job, house, or car. If we are not careful it can even be our family, denomination, church, pastor, or ministry. YHWH (the LORD) wants to have the absolute first priority in our lives.

verse 9     And the mean man boweth down, and the great man humbleth himself: therefore forgive them not.

We should bow down and humble ourselves before El Shaddai (Almighty God), not the idols of this generation.

verse 10   Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of YHWH (the LORD), and for the glory of His majesty.

verse 11    The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and YHWH (the LORD) alone shall be exalted in that day.

Turn with me to Revelation Chapter 6 and we will see the fulfillment of this prophecy.

Revelation 6:12-17

verse 12    And I beheld when He opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

verse 13    And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

verse 14    And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

verse 15    And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

verse 16    And said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us, and hide us from the wrath of the Lamb:

verse 17    For the great day of His wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand.

Flip to the Book of Luke and we will document this point further with the words of Messiah (Christ) Himself.

Luke 23:27-30

verse 27    And there followed Him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented Him.

verse 28    But Yahushua (Jesus) turning unto them said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for Me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.

verse 29    For, behold, the days are coming, in which they shall say, ‘Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.’

verse 30    Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us; and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’

This is not the time to play church or play religion. Our Father is not happy with all of the wickedness that is in this world. I pray that you will not be one of these people begging for the rocks to fall on you because you are too ashamed to face EL Shaddai (Almighty God). We have to be serious about our Father’s business.

Let’s return to Isaiah

Isaiah 2:12-22

verse 12    For the day of YHWH Shaboath (the LORD of hosts) shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:

verse 13    And upon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan,

verse 14    And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up.

verse 15    And upon every high tower, and every fenced wall,

verse 16    And upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant pictures.

Pleasant pictures means desirable things

verse 17    And the loftiness of man shall bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and YHWH (the LORD) alone shall be exalted in that day.

verse 18    And the idols He shall utterly abolish.

verse 19    And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of YHWH (the LORD), and for the glory of His majesty, when He ariseth to shake terribly the earth.

verse 20    In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats;

verse 21    To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of YHWH (the LORD), and for the glory of His majesty, when He ariseth to shake terribly the earth.

verse 22    Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of ?

In other words, we should not place any confidence in people because we cannot depend on them. We should always depend on YHWH (the LORD). Let’s go to the book of Zephaniah

Zephania 1:1-18

verse 1     The word of YHWH (the LORD) which came unto Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Hizkiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Jerusalem.

verse 2     “I will utterly consume all things from of the land, saith YHWH (the LORD).

verse 3     I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from the land, saith YHWH (the LORD).

verse 4     I will stretch out Mine hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests;

Chemerims are robes worn by idolatrous priests.

verse 5     And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and swear by YHWH (the LORD), and that swear by Malcham;

Worshiping the host of heaven refers to angel worship. We are not to worship angels. Some people talk more about angels saving and helping them then they do YHWH (the LORD) Himself.

Malcham means king idol. Our Father wants our worship of Him to be exclusive and pure. We can’t mix heathen practices into our worship of Him. I have heard of churches where people that are supposedly Christians are worshiping side by side with people of many different religions at the same time.

verse 6     And them that are turned back from YHWH (the LORD); and those that have not sought YHWH (the LORD), nor enquired of Him.

verse 7     Hold thy peace at the presence of the Master YHWH (Lord GOD): for the day of YHWH (the LORD) is at hand: for YHWH (the LORD) hath prepared a sacrifice, He hath bid his guests.

verse 8     And it shall come to pass in the day of YHWH'S (the LORD’S) sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king’s children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.

verse 9     In the same day also will I punish all those that leap on the threshold, which fill their master’s houses with violence and deceit.

verse 10    And it shall come to pass in that day, saith YHWH (the LORD), that there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and an howling from the second, and a great crashing from the hills.

verse 11    Howl, ye inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the merchant people are cut down; all they that bear silver are cut off.

verse 12    And it shall come to pass at that time that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, ‘ YHWH (the LORD) will not do good, neither will He do evil.’

Lees is the sediment at the bottom of a wine barrel. Figuratively it is used of a person who is at ease.

verse 13     Therefore their goods shall become a booty, and their houses a desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but not drink the wine thereof.

verse 14    The great day of YHWH (the LORD) is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of YHWH (the LORD): the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.

verse 15    That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,

verse 16    A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.

verse 17    I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against YHWH (the LORD): and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as dung.

verse 18    Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of YHWH'S (the LORD’S) wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of His jealousy: for He shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.”

All of this may sound scary, but there is nothing for us to be afraid of. That is unless you are one of YHWH'S (the LORD'S) enemies. If you are an enemy of YHWH (the LORD) you have a lot to be afraid of. Many people think that Old Testament prophecies like these conflict with the teachings of Yahushua (Jesus). Nothing could be further from the truth. Elohim (God) is love, but He is also an Elohom (God) of discipline, and He is a jealous Elohim (God). Go with me back to the book of Isaiah and we will see a side of Yahushua (Jesus) that a lot of people ignore.

Isaiah 63:1-6

verse 1     Who is This That cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah?  This That is glorious in His apparel, travelling  in the greatness of His strength? I that speak righteousness, mighty to save.

This is The Savoir, none other than Yahushua (Jesus) Himself.

verse 2     Wherefore art thou red in Thine apparel, and Thy garments like him that treadeth the winefat?

In other words what is being asked of Yahushua (Jesus) here is  “why are your close all stained like a person who has been treading in a winepress?” Pay close attention here as Yahushua (Jesus) answers the question. You have probably never heard of Yahushua (Jesus) speaking in this manner before.

verse 3     I have trodden the wine press alone; and of the people there was none with Me: for I will tread them in Mine anger, and trample them in My fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon My garments, and I will stain all My raiment.

verse 4     For the day of vengeance is in Mine heart, and the year of My redeemed is come.

verse 5     And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore Mine own arm brought salvation unto Me; and My fury, it upheld Me.

verse 6     And I will tread down the people in Mine anger, and make them drunk in My fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.

This is what Yahushua (Jesus) agonized about in the garden of Gethsemane. Many pastors teach that for a fleeting moment, Messiah (Christ) actually feared death and asked YHWH (the LORD) if there was another way. Teaching that Messiah (Christ) feared death is false doctrine! This is an example of why we need to check every Bible teacher out in the Word of Elohim (God) to make sure that He/She is teaching correctly. We fear death because we don’t know exactly what to expect. Messiah (Christ) is the Creator of the universe. He is all knowing and all seeing. There was no need for Him to fear death because he knows what is on the other side. The false teaching of Messiah (Christ) fearing death is an example of man projecting his weaknesses onto Messiah (Christ). HE agonized because He knew that if the crucifixion came to pass, then the other part of the prophecy would have to come to pass and that was the vengeance that is described in Isaiah 63:1-5. Turn to the book of Luke and we will document this point further.

Luke 4:18,19

verse 18    “The Spirit of YHWH (the LORD) is upon Me because He hath anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

verse 19    To preach the acceptable year of YHWH (the LORD).”

verse 20    And He closed the book, and He gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on Him.

verse 21    And He began to say unto them, “ This day is this scripture fulfilled in your eyes.”

Turn with me to Isaiah 61, where this was quoted from.

Isaiah 61:1,2

verse 1     The Spirit of YHWH (the LORD) is upon Me; because YHWH (the LORD) hath anointed Me to preach good tidings to the meek; He hath sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

verse 2     To proclaim the acceptable year of YHWH (the LORD),

this is the point in the book of Luke where Yahushua (Jesus) closes the book. Let’s continue and see what the other part of the prophecy is.

continuing in verse 2     and the day of vengeance of our Elomin (God); to comfort all that mourn;

Yahushua (Jesus) closed the book without reading this part because it was not yet time for the vengeance. However, Yahushua (Jesus) knew at the time He was in Gethsemane that the Crucifixion was going to take place, and along with that the vengeance of our Elohim (God) and that is why He was in agony. Notice the reason for the vengeance. To comfort all that mourn. If we are in Messiah (Christ), then we will be comforted by the vengeance. If you are an enemy for Messiah (Christ) then you should be very afraid. On our way to closing out this study, turn with Me to the book of Revelation.

Revelation 14:14-20

This links with the treading of the people mentioned in Isaiah 63. Here in Revelation we see the fulfillment of that prophecy.

verse 14    And I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and upon the cloud One sat like unto the Son of Man, having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle.

verse 15    And another angel came out of the Temple, crying with a loud voice to Him That sat on the cloud, “ Thrust in Thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for Thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.”

verse 16    And He That sat on the cloud thrust in His sickle on the earth, and the earth was reaped.

verse 17    And another angel came out of the Temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle

verse 18    And another angel came out from the alter, which had power over fire; and cried to him that had the sharp sickle saying, “ Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.”

verse 19    And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of Elohim (God).

verse 20    And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

That is about 200 miles. That is definitely a whole lot of treading. Turn to Chapter 19 of this same book.

Revelation 19:11-16

verse 11    And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse; and He That sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war.

verse 12    His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns; and He had a name written, that no man knew, but He Himself.

verse 13    And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called The Word of Elohim (God).

verse 14    And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

verse 15    And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of El Shaddai (Almighty God).

verse 16    And He hath on His vesture and on His thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND MASTER (LORD) OF MASTERS (LORDS).

The treading of the winepress is also mentioned here. No doubt that Yahushua (Jesus) was seeing these things when He agonized in the garden. He was not concerned with Himself, but He was saddened because He knew that He would have to smite the nations and tread down the people when he returned in His glory. Our service to Our Father should not be taken lightly. It’s not just about going to church one or two days a week. It’s about loving Him, being in Him everyday and being diligent in the studying of His word.
