But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. John 4:14

What does being "saved" mean?

The word "saved" is often used loosely by people without the understanding of its true meaning.

Romans 5:8,9

verse 8    But Elohim (God) commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Messiah (Christ) died for us.

verse 9    Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

1 Thessalonians 1:9,10

verse 9    For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to Elohim (God) from idols to serve the living and true Elohim (God);

verse 10    And to wait for His Son from heaven, Whom He raised from the dead, even Yahushua (Jesus), Which delivered us from the wrath to come.

We are delivered by Yahushua Messiah (Jesus Christ) from the future wrath to come. We are not saved yet, but we have the promise of being saved from the wrath of Elohim (God) that is going to spill forth at His return. So when we say that we are "saved", this is what we really mean.

Do I have to go to a local church to be saved?

The answer to this question is no. Can our Father save people at church? Of course He can. Is that the only place a person can be saved? No it is not. Our Father is The Creator of Heaven and earth. He is not limited to just saving His children inside of church buildings. He saves people wherever He chooses to. Some pastors would make it seem that way, but The Bible tells us the truth about this matter.

Hebrews 13:10-16

verse 10     We have an alter, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle.

verse 11     For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.

( this scripture is speaking of the animal sacrifices of the Old Covenant (Testament) which Yahushua (Jesus) replaced.

verse 12     Wherefore Yahushua (Jesus) also, that He might santify the people with His own blood, suffered without the gate.

verse 13     Let us go therefore unto Him without the camp, bearing His reproach.

Not only did Messiah (Christ) suffer and die outside of the church, but He also resurrected outside of the church. All of Messiah's (Christ's) atoning work was done outside of the church. I believe for the purpose of showing us that it's our Yahushua Messiah (Jesus Christ) that saves people, not denominations, not the church, or your pastor or anybody else. We are instructed to go outside of the camp. This means that we have to come outside of  traditions, outside of our denominational affiliation, outside of theology, and out of our local church and bear Messiah's (Christ's) reproach to truely know Him. In other words we should identfy ourselves as servants of Yahushua (Jesus), not as a member of a particular denomination or church. We are one Body of believers.

verse  14     For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.

Do I have to be baptized to be saved?

Many pastors would say yes, but this is not the case. A person does not have to be baptized to be saved. I do however say that every believer should be baptized because our Master (Lord) was baptized.

Matthew 3:13-17

verse 13     Then cometh Yahushua (Jesus) from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

verse  14     But John forbad Him, saying, " I have need to be baptized of Thee, and comest Thou to me?"

verse  15     And Yahushua (Jesus) answering said unto him, "Suffer it to be so for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he suffered Him.

Messiah (Christ) himself was baptized, so we as followers of Him should also be baptized. Yahushua (Jesus) did not need salvation and He was still baptized. So we can see the purpose of baptism is obedience, not salvation. Some denominations have split over which name a person should be baptized in, Jesus only, or The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. The truth is, it really doesn't matter which way it's done. What does the name Jesus mean? It means YHWH's (The Father) Savoir. In the name Yahushua we have The Father and The Son. Where ever they are, Ruach HaKodesh (The Holy Spirit) is always present because YHWH our Elohim (The Lord our God) is one. So when we say Yahushua (Jesus) we are acknowleging all.

Do I have to speak in "tongues" to be saved?

The answer is No. There is much confusion about tongues. In the future if our Father is willing, I will do an entire study on tongues. For now I will use this scripture to answer the question.

1Corinthians 14:32,33

verse 32     And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

verse 33     For Elohim (God) is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
